Taribrayan is the female progenitor of the Amis, consort of Abokurayan in the tradition of divine descent from the sky. As mother of the ancestral line she is well suited to a people whose social order was reckoned through the female line, with residence and household organized matrilineally. The couple's prolific offspring compel the dispersal from which the Amis settlements of the coast and rift valley are said to arise.
