Manaf

Arabian · deity · pantheon era · deity

ONCE THE MOST IMPORTANT GOD IN MECCA, AND THE CORPUS DID NOT HOLD HIM. The registry had Hubal, Allat, al-Uzza and Manat — the four the Qur'an argues with — and not the god the sources say once outranked them. His name survives in 'Abd Manaf, the Qurayshi ancestor, which is how a lapsed cult usually leaves its trace.
