Misra Melik

Armenian · mortal · medieval sasna tsrer · mortal

Half-brother of David of Sassoun via shared father Mher the Elder; king of Egypt; invader of Sassoun demanding tribute. Killed by David in single combat at the climactic Cycle-3 battle. The half-sibling-conflict resolution structurally parallels the Mixtec 8 Deer / Lady 6 Lizard half-sibling-killing pattern though with reversed political dynamics — here the Sassoun (homeland) hero kills the foreign-throned half-brother to secure independence, where 8 Deer killed the half-sister to expand his polity. The Misra Melik figure preserves the medieval Armenian-Egyptian-Caliphate political-historical context (the Abbasid period, when Armenia was contested between Byzantine and Caliphate spheres) as the dramatic-political backdrop of the Sasna Tsřer.
