Chalchiuhtotolin

A god of plague in the shape of a turkey is not a joke: the turkey was the Mexica's only large domestic animal, kept in numbers in every household, and a bird disease going through the flock was a real disaster. Chalchiuhtotolin both sends the contamination and lifts it, which is the same logic that puts Pazuzu on a Mesopotamian amulet — the power that can do it to you is the one worth asking to stop. He is a face of Tezcatlipoca, whose whole nature is that he is never only one thing.
