Nyake is the younger brother of the earth ancestor Yeba. He appears in the marriage myth of Yeba and Yawira in the episode of the manioc sticks, when Yawira asks him to help carry the planting cuttings to her garden. His role sets the junior brother within the founding household and links the sibling pair to the origin of cultivation, one of the recurring concerns of the earth-people myth cycle.
