Horon

Horon is the god you call about a snake. KTU 1.100 is a long incantation in which the mother of the mare, bitten, appeals in turn to El, Baal, Dagan, Anat and Athtart, Yarikh, Resheph, Athirat, Shapshu — the whole pantheon, in order — and none of them is the answer; the answer is Horon, who comes from Mount Arashih and does the work. He is also the clearest case of a Levantine god exported into Egypt and doing better there: as Hauron he is worshipped at Giza, closely associated with Harmachis, and his name can be used of the Great Sphinx itself. Whether he has an underworld side is argued; the consensus has moved toward reading him as protective.
