Athirat's servant has a double name, like Kothar-wa-Hasis, which in this literature seems to mark a functionary rather than a great god — the name describes the job in two words. He is her fisherman, which is a real occupational title for the household of a goddess called Lady Athirat of the Sea, and his set-piece is saddling her donkey. The Baal Cycle spends more lines on the saddling than on some battles, which is the poem's way of dignifying the errand.
