Shalim

Canaanite · deity · mythic · deity

Shalim is the evening, and his name is the root that means whole, finished, at peace — the day completed rather than merely ended. The same root stands in the name of Jerusalem, which is generally read as a foundation of Shalim, so a god who appears in one surviving Ugaritic tablet has his name on one of the most-said place names in the world. He and Shahar are the morning and evening appearances of Venus, born as twins because the planet is one object seen twice.
