Shen Gongbao

His object is the list itself, which is what makes him the novel's most interesting villain: he is not fighting for the Shang so much as against the arrangement by which the dead are enrolled as gods off a roster he did not write. Destroy the list and there is no pantheon. In a corpus where the list is the premise, the man trying to burn it is worth a record.
