Youchao

The Chinese sequence of culture heroes is an argument about what civilisation consists of, taken in order: shelter, fire, divination and writing, agriculture. Youchao is the first term. The registry held the third and fourth and neither of the first two, which is the sort of gap that only shows up when you go looking for the beginning of a list.
