Shyamga
Dargin · numen · Dargin traditional religion; continuing · numen
Shyamga is an ill-natured house-spirit named among the Kaitag Dargins. Its distinguishing trait is protean disguise: it can slip into the shape of any object standing about the home, down to a discarded pair of old shoes, so that the everyday furnishings of a dwelling may conceal it. It belongs to the malevolent side of Dargin domestic demonology, set against the guardian house-spirit, and is recorded chiefly in the dialect belief of the Kaitag region.
