Ta-Bitjet

Egyptian · deity · mythic · deity

Ta-Bitjet exists inside a spell. Egyptian healing magic works by precedent: something happened once in the world of the gods, and the practitioner recites it so that the same remedy applies now. Her precedent is her wedding night — Horus's consummation, and the blood from it — which the incantations name as the substance that stops venom working. That is the whole of her attestation. She is a scorpion goddess invoked against scorpions, which is the standard Egyptian arrangement, and Serqet, already in this registry, is the same idea with a longer career.
