Tausret

Egyptian · scion · new kingdom · scion

Last pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty (sole rule c. 1191-1188 BCE). One of the few female pharaohs in Egyptian history to assume the full male-pharaoh iconographic vocabulary (alongside Hatshepsut and the contested Sobekneferu/Neferusobek). Manetho synchronizes her reign with the fall of Troy. Overthrown by Setnakhte in civil war c. 1188 BCE; tomb usurped, name replastered, mortuary temple destroyed; excluded from the Medinet Habu king-list under Ramesses III. Demigod typing per the 19th-Dynasty Birth Cycle convention applied consistently to her registered siblings/half-siblings (Seti II, Khaemweset, Merneptah, Amunherkhepeshef).
