Wosret
Egyptian · deity · middle kingdom · deity
Wosret is an argument for looking at royal names. She is barely depicted, has no temple anyone has found, and would be almost invisible — except that the kings who reunified and ran Middle Kingdom Egypt called themselves Senusret, 'man of Wosret', three times over in one dynasty. A goddess nobody drew was important enough that the ruling house put her in its name for a century. The record states what is attested and does not speculate about why.
