Jino Poto Warra, the hero sent into the underworld
Embera · demigod · Embera traditional religion; continuing · demigod
Jino Poto Warra, whose name is glossed 'child of the leg/calf,' is a hero created by Karagabí to descend into the underworld domain of Tutruicá and accomplish feats there, delivering Emberá people from the dangers of that lower realm. He belongs to the same family of Jino-Poto world-crossing beings as the crab-healer Jinopotabá, and his mission expresses the ongoing rivalry between Karagabí's ordered world and Tutruicá's underworld.
