Caile Vipinas

Caile Vipinas is the brother who is taken. In the François Tomb at Vulci he stands with his hands tied while Macstrna cuts him loose and the rest of the band cuts down champions from Volsinii, Sovana and Rome. The emperor Claudius, arguing in the Senate for the admission of Gauls, cited the adventures of this same Caelius Vibenna and his companion Mastarna — evidence that the Vulcian story was known at Rome and taken seriously there. Roman tradition also derived the name of the Caelian Hill from him.
