Mania
Etruscan · deity · classical · deity
Mania rules the Etruscan dead beside Mantus in the accounts that reach us — queen to his king in a picture drawn by Graeco-Roman writers rather than by Etruscan inscriptions. A Roman Mania associated with the Lares and the Compitalia is also attested, and how far the two are one figure is unclear. Because the evidence is report at second hand, the record is deliberately thin and its weight is marked low; the underworld rulers the Etruscans themselves name, Aita and Persipnei, are separate records already in this registry.
