Vetis

Vetis is known from the Etruscan sky-map and from what the Romans made of him. His name stands on the outer rim of the Liver of Piacenza, and it is the name behind Roman Vejovis, whose rare forms Veive and Vedius preserve it almost unchanged. He is generally described as a god of vendetta, chthonic rather than celestial. He is ingested here partly because the Roman god corroborates the liver reading: most of the sixteen abbreviated theonyms on that object are contested, and a name resting on the liver alone would not meet this registry's bar.
