Kiwiwiole is a named ancestral hero of Kalauna preserved in the community's living mythology as documented by Michael Young. His narrative belongs to the cycle of origin and food-magic traditions through which Kalauna descent groups account for their present standing, a corpus dominated by the recurring tension between plenty and famine. Sources present him among the culture-heroes whose myths are owned by particular lineages and enacted in their ritual life, above all in the manumanua ceremonies by which the community's magicians hold food and fertility in place.
