Mortal prince of Ithaca, only son of Odysseus and Penelope. An infant at his father departure for Troy, he comes of age in the opening four books of the Odyssey (the Telemachy), travelling to Pylos and Sparta under Athena guidance, and fights beside the returned Odysseus against the suitors. Named in the prose of greek_odysseus as his son by Penelope.
