Mortal king of Sparta; husband of Leda; biological father of Castor and Clytemnestra; legal father of Helen and Pollux. Famous for the Oath of Tyndareus he made all of Helen's suitors swear, binding them to defend the chosen husband — the legal foundation triggering the Greek coalition for the Trojan War.
