Ñande Sy

Guaraní · deity · mythic · deity

Ñande Sy, Our Mother, the prose-named mother of the divine twins Kuarahy and Jasy (Cadogan 1959; Nimuendajú 1914). Both existing twins should gain parentIds += guarani_nande_sy (maternal); their father Ñamandú/Ñande Ru already wired. Typed deity as the divine mother of the demiurge-twins, consort of the creator. The corpus prose under guarani_kuarahy renders the name as Ñande Jary; the securely attested name of the twins-mother is Ñande Sy (Our Mother), whereas Ñande Jary means rather Our Grandmother.
