This is lane 14's five-of-six pattern in its worst form. Dasharatha has three queens. The corpus held Kausalya and Sumitra — the mothers of Rama and of Lakshmana, that is, the two whose sons are already in the registry — and not Kaikeyi, whose act is the reason there is a story. A corpus that adds people because other people it holds are related to them will always produce this shape, and it is worth naming as a mechanism rather than as a run of bad luck.
