Vaivasvata Manu

Hindu · demigod · vedic · demigod

Vaivasvata Manu, son of Vivasvat (Sūrya), the progenitor of mankind and survivor of the great deluge — the Indian counterpart of the flood-patriarch. Child of Sūrya (parentId hindu_surya, father); his mother is Saraṇyū / Saṃjñā, who has no registered figure and so is named here rather than placed in parentIds. Typed demigod by the mandated descent rule (Sūrya deity 1.0 + unregistered mother 0.0, /2 = 0.5 → demigod) and by the 'first man / divine-born mortal-ancestor' reading; this is the drift-safe lower tier (a deity claim would be auto-reclassified down). Full-sibling edge to hindu_yami (reciprocated in-batch) and brother-edge to the existing hindu_yama (one-way). 'Vaivasvata' currently exists in the corpus only as an epithet inside the Yama entry; this is his first standalone figure.
