Vasishtha

He is the family priest of the Ikshvaku kings — which is to say Rama's own house priest — and one of the seven sages, and this record claims neither, because the treatment consulted gives him only as the other party to the feud. That is a thin record for one of the largest figures in the tradition, and the census says so rather than the record pretending otherwise.
