The corpus already holds `hindu_shesha`, the other great naga, and did not hold this one — so it held the serpent the world rests on and not the serpent the world was made with. He is also the reason the halahala poison is released at all, which is a story about being used as a tool by both sides at once; the treatment consulted gives the arrangement and not his part in the poison, so the record gives the arrangement.
