Hindu wind god; one of the oldest Vedic pantheon deities. Father of Bhīma in the Mahabharata and Hanumān in the Ramayana — both inherit his physical strength as their defining attribute. Often invoked compound-form as Vāyav-Indra in Ṛgvedic ritual.
