Primordial king of heaven in the Hurrian-Hittite Kingship in Heaven cycle: he reigns nine years with Anu as his cupbearer, is deposed by Anu, and flees down to the Dark Earth. Kumarbi, his seed, later unseats Anu in turn — the generational-overthrow pattern that reaches Greek myth as Uranus–Cronus–Zeus.
