Nikkal
Hurrian · deity · mythic · Recorded classification
THE CORPUS HELD KUSHUH AND NOT HIS CONSORT. The sources also place her before 'the pair Umbu-Nikkal', which is her own name inside a compound — the offering lists list her twice, alone and paired, and the record states that rather than resolving it. AN UMBU RECORD WAS AUTHORED AND REMOVED: the corpus's Kushuh already carries Umbu as an alias, which the second sweep surfaced, and the pairing is written to Kushuh instead.
Relations
- consort of: KushuhNon-symmetric toward a pre-existing record.Reference treatment: Nikkal appears in offering lists (kaluti) focused on Hebat, in which she is typically placed after Ishara and before the pair Umbu-Nikkal; the moon god Kushuh's consort is Nikkal. (secondary)
- paired in the kaluti as Umbu Nikkal with: KushuhNon-symmetric toward a pre-existing record. THE SECOND SWEEP CAUGHT THIS: an Umbu record was authored and then removed, because hurrian_kushuh ALREADY CARRIES 'Umbu' AS AN ALIAS, and a second record would have been the within-tradition duplicate this programme forbids. The pairing is therefore written to Kushuh, where the name already lives.Reference treatment: Nikkal appears in offering lists (kaluti) focused on Hebat, in which she is typically placed after Ishara and before the pair Umbu-Nikkal; the moon god Kushuh's consort is Nikkal.
