Anda Mara
Iban · deity · Iban traditional religion; continuing · Recorded classification
Anda Mara is the Iban god of wealth, the giver of pengaya, riches, prosperity and good fortune in trade and accumulation. He is invoked when a household seeks to prosper, to gather the jars, brassware and heirloom valuables by which Iban standing is measured. Named consistently in the ethnographic accounts among the company of great gods surrounding Sengalang Burong, he holds a more specialized and less mythologically elaborated place than the deities of war, earth and human creation.
