Saridandan is a female figure of Biag ni Lam-ang, a former sweetheart or woman of pleasure encountered by the hero on the road as he travels to court Ines Kannoyan. She seeks to detain and tempt him, but Lam-ang resists her overtures and presses on, an episode that sets his fidelity to his chosen bride against the lure of an old attachment. Her appearance, alongside the rival Sumarang, forms one of the trials of the journey in the epic's courtship sequence.
