Sixth Sapa Inca; son of Cápac Yupanqui. Inaugurated the Hanan-Cuzco / Hurin-Cuzco moiety division, the foundational dual-organizing principle of imperial Cuzco that structured Inca social, ritual, political, and territorial organization through the conquest. His Wikakirau Panaca was one of the senior Hanan-Cuzco corporate lineages. The marriage to Mama Micay of Huayllacan is the first chronicle-recorded politically-significant external alliance — the Huayllacan polity was a regional rival in the immediate north of Cuzco, and the marriage-alliance prefigured the later imperial-period Inca pattern of state-formation through political marriage. Conventional dating c. 1350 CE.
