Siduka

Itelmen · deity · mythic / first times (creation of Kamchatka) · deity

Siduka is the daughter of the creator Kutkhu and his wife Il'kkhum in the Kamchadal cosmogony recorded by Krasheninnikov. When Kutkhu departed from Kamchatka, she was married to her brother Tyzhil-Kutkhu; she bore the son Amleia and the daughter Sidukamshich, who were in turn married to one another, and from this first family the Kamchadals derived the peoples of the land. She thus stands as the primordial ancestress of the Itelmen genealogical myth, the counterpart in Krasheninnikov's record of the folkloric mother-figure Miti of the tale cycle.
