Omoikane
Japanese · deity · primordial · deity
The eight million gods are stuck outside a rock and the solution is a committee meeting. Japanese myth is unusually fond of this move — the crisis is solved by consultation, division of labour and a correctly performed ritual rather than by a champion — and Omoikane is the personification of the consultation. His name means, roughly, 'the one who thinks everyone's thoughts at once'. The registry had the dancer whose dance he scheduled and not him.
