Mortal-tier onna-musha (female warrior) companion of Yoshinaka. Daughter of Nakahara no Kanetō (Yoshinaka's foster-father). Per the canonical Heike Monogatari book 9 description: "of fair complexion, with long hair and beautiful features; a remarkable archer and a swordswoman, a warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or a god." Present at Yoshinaka's last stand at Awazu in 1184; dismissed from the field by Yoshinaka who said "I do not want it said that Lord Kiso kept a woman with him at his last stand." Before fleeing, sought a final feat: dragged the Musashi warrior Onda no Hachirō Moroshige from his horse and twisted off his head. Fate after Awazu uncertain across the Heike Monogatari and Genpei Jōsuiki variant traditions. The canonical-Japanese onna-musha figure of the medieval-literary tradition; foundational subject of Edo-period ukiyo-e woodblock-print and bunraku-kabuki theatrical adaptation.
