Yamata-no-Orochi
Japanese · deity · primordial · deity
The registry held the swordsman and not the serpent, which is the shape this programme has now found in seven traditions. What comes out of the tail is Kusanagi, the sword that passes through Ninigi, Yamato-hime and Yamato Takeru to Atsuta Jingu and is one of the three Imperial Regalia — so the throne's second symbol is loot from this animal. The eight vats are also worth noticing: the serpent is not fought, it is catered for.
