Allayar is the semi-nomadic ruler of Sarkop and the father of the heroine Gulaim in Qırq qız. He indulges his daughter's refusal of marriage and grants her the island of Miuweli, where she raises her fortress and trains the forty maidens. His death in the Kalmyk assault on Sarkop, together with the captivity of its people, precipitates the epic's central action: Gulaim's campaign of vengeance and liberation. Allayar thus functions as the patriarchal order whose destruction the maiden host must avenge and restore.
