Sakatsuegï

Sakatsuegï is a monstrous serpent, one of the itseke that people the waters and forests of the Kalapalo mythic landscape. Such serpent-beings mark the dangerous ground beyond the ordered village, and encounters with them test the human protagonists of Kalapalo narrative. As with other itseke, its power is both feared and, in the songs that name it, made partly knowable.
