North-Wind God

Komi wind-deity. English 'North-Wind God' leads; native Войпель (Vojpel') in term, glossed 'north/midnight wind'. A wooden idol of Voipel is reported in early-modern Russian sources for the Komi; the etymology and figure are discussed in Holmberg/Harva's Permian survey.
