Cloud-Man

Cloud-Man is a benevolent celestial being of Koryak religion, reckoned a son of the Supreme Being who dwells with his family in the upper world. He presides over marriage and courtship: a newly married man offers him a reindeer, and young men and women beat the drum to invoke his help in winning a beloved. In the mythological narratives collected by Jochelson, Cloud-Man appears as one of the supernatural husbands of Yiniaaneut, the eldest daughter of Big-Raven, linking the sky-family of the Supreme Being to the household of the creator-trickster.
