Temir-töš

Kumyk · numen · Kumyk traditional religion; continuing · numen

Temir-töš ('iron breast') is a male demon of Kumyk belief, named for his metal chest and regarded in some traditions as the husband of the demoness Albaslı qatın. He belongs to the same stratum of malevolent Caucasian spirits as his wife, and appears chiefly as her counterpart in the paired demonology recorded by ethnographers of the Kumyks.
