Gin-Gin, also recorded as Djin-Djin and Ghingin, is the wife of the founding lawgiver Marnbil and one of the three immortal ancestors who came from the west to settle the Lardil country of the Wellesley Islands. While Marnbil travelled to dig a well on the last day of their journey, Gin-Gin stayed near camp gathering tubers and roots and was seduced by her uncle Dewallewal; the discovery of this union led Marnbil to spear Dewallewal, an event that established the first ceremonial ground and brought mortality and the laws governing marriage and kinship upon the Lardil. With Marnbil and Dewallewal she is identified with the mineralised rocks of a reef off Mornington Island.
