Last king of Ugarit (r. c. 1215-1180 BCE). Mortal class — Ugaritic kings are not divinized in the surviving textual record. Vassal of the Hittite Great King Suppiluliuma II; married briefly to Eḫli-Nikkal, daughter of Suppiluliuma II. The famous RS 18.147 letter describing Sea Peoples ships burning Ugaritic cities was being baked in the kiln at the moment of Ugarit's destruction — frozen in mid-baking, never delivered. Died with the destruction of Ugarit c. 1185-1180 BCE; the city was never reoccupied. **Already dead by c. 1172 BCE** — added as historical anchor for the Bronze Age Collapse era and as the Levantine tradition's representative figure of the period.
