Eren, also recorded as Eran or Neren, is the Lezgin god of the waters, ruling the sea, the rivers and the lakes. He is remembered above all through his daughters, the beneficent water-spirits who each year on the eve of spring fly to the sacred summit of Shalbuzdag and pass through every village bearing the news that the goddess Yar has risen again. In the tiered cosmos these good spirits, the sisters and daughters of Eren, are placed in the third celestial sphere.
