Tangaroa-tui-mata

In Gill’s Manihiki narrative, Tangaroa-tui-mata keeps fire in Avaiki. His grandson Maui learns fire-making from him, kills him by pulling his rainbow girdle, and restores him to life from bones enclosed in a coconut shell.
