Dagau is a Manobo deity of the earth's foundations, dwelling at the supporting posts of the world in the company of a great python and holding sway over the primordial waters beneath the earth. When angered she stirs the pillars to produce earthquakes and looses floods. In Garvan's account of the Agusan Manobo she is one of the powers that keep the world in place, and her serpent companion is a recurrent image of the cosmic depths.
