The Popol Vuh is a book about how the K'iche' came to exist, and these four are the answer; the registry held the Hero Twins, who are the prologue, and not the men, who are the point. The detail that survives best is the blinding: the first humans were made too well, saw everything, and had their sight cut down by their makers on purpose. It is the rare creation story in which the flaw in human beings is deliberate and admitted.
