Lintel 25 is the reason Classic Maya religion is understood the way it is. The sequence is explicit and in order: she lets blood, the blood is burned, the smoke becomes a serpent, and an armed ancestor comes out of its mouth. That is the mechanism of Maya contact with the dead, carved once, with a date on it, with a named woman doing it. She was not in the registry.
