Ambra Rangmba

Ambra Rangmba is the heroine courted and won by Miti Krai in the most celebrated Hagen kang rom tale. Her name evokes rangmba, 'she will pluck or harvest'. Marrying for love against her kin, she embodies, together with Miti Krai, both the ideal and the danger of self-chosen marriage. She recurs across the Hagen region under other names, including Rangkopa, Ranggoba and Morokla Rakop, and sources treat these as versions of a single archetypal figure.
