Damkina

Mesopotamian · deity · mythic · deity

Damkina is Enki's wife — Damgalnuna in Sumerian, 'great wife of the prince' — and she matters most for whom she bore. Nanshe and Asalluhi are her children in the Sumerian material, and in Enuma Elish she and Ea produce Marduk, which makes her the mother of the god who ends up ruling everything. Her cult sat at Eridu, Enki's city, and at Malgium. Asalluhi is already in this registry, absorbed into the Marduk record.
